Introduction on Xiu Wen Tong Zi aka Immortal Xiu Wen (修文童子)

Xiu Wen Tong Zi aka Immortal Xiu Wen, upon hearing this title, a lot of the people might felt that this is a new Deity or a Deity that being created by Mortals.

 

If you do have such thoughts, then I will have to say that, you are not right.

 

According to Taoist & other Spiritual Records, Xiu Wen Tong Zi existed right after Taoist Priests or Taoist Spiritual Masters existed.

 

In the records, there are a total of 3 versions of History Background on Xiu Wen Tong Zi.

 

First: Xiu Wen Tong Zi is an Immortal that being appointed by Heavenly Realm to assist in edit, arrange, collect, vet-thru and issue of Spiritual Documents in the Three Realms, with no name or physical background being known.

 

Second: Xiu Wen Tong Zi, name known as Li Bao Da (李寶達), since young, he is an intelligent boy who is able to chant almost all Religious Scriptures that he read or seen.

 

At the age of 13, he got enlightenment and after his enlightenment, he is given the Official Title of Xiu Wen Tong Zi, allocated to the Spiritual Document Section in the Heavenly Realm to perform the task of collating All Spiritual Documents that being circulated around in the Three Realms.

 

Last: Xiu Wen, an Official Term used during or after Shang Dynasty (商朝).

 

Xiu Wen, to maintain Peace or to promote Academic Study.

 

In order to perform the above-mentioned tasks, someone will be appointed to take up the position.

 

In certain era in the Chinese History, an Upright Officer who hold the position of Xiu Wen got an enlightenment and is being appointed as Xiu Wen Tong Zi.

 

Since then, Xiu Wen Tong Zi appeared in the Religion Contexts.

 

Due to Xiu Wen Tong Zi does not have any direct association with the Normal Blessing that the Mortals requested, till today, not much people, Temples or Taoist Groups will honoured him.

 

But from what I know, in certain Rituals/Ceremonies, the title of Xiu Wen Tong Zi will be mentioned.
