Hi Jave,
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that I've never seen a Deity with such a big mustache and beard... What's in his hands ? A fan ?
Thank you.
Hahaha, thats bushy :P
ReplyDeleteThats a Reporting Tablet, usually only high rank Deity will hold onto it.
Merci :-)
ReplyDeleteIs there any similarity with the ivory tablet that the Mandarins were holding in their hands ?
Is there something written on this 'Reporting Tablet' ?
Ivory, Jade or wooden are being used during the Ancient Era for Officers during the meeting with Emperors.
ReplyDeleteSome Officers will write the things that they wanted to report to the Emperor on the Tablet, in-order not to miss out anything while the Officer doing his reporting,
Another little point Jave : this Tablet had to be hold only with both hands and never with only one hand ?
ReplyDeletewith both hand, never with one hand while doing reporting, cos that consider as dis-respect.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jave !! I am curious about Mandarins and about this Tablet since a long time. Your replies are very helpful. I wish I could see a real Tablet in an Asian Museum soon...
ReplyDeleteHave a good evening,
Liu
Welcome :P
ReplyDeleteI think the Museum wont be collecting such items, but if got chance, I can show u mine, let u have a feel of a Reporting Tablet.
Would be great ! ;-)
ReplyDeleteMay compassionate Dong Yue Da Di bless all beings with safe passages and let this world be free of disaster, calamity or any castrophic events, also to lead every one to the right path of upright cultivation.
ReplyDeleteJave, is the left hand infront or at the back?
ReplyDeleteIs there any theory why is it like that?
Left hand is always on the outward position, this is to represent Yang come first and then Yin.
ReplyDeleteLeft, the Authority and representing taking the order from Heaven to perform certain tasks.
Jave, in SG , is it only got one of his main temple at kampong bahru?
ReplyDeleteYes, in Singapore, thats the Main Temple that dedicated to Dong Yue Da Di.
