Si Ming Zao Jun aka The Kitchen Deity, a Taoist Deity that being appointed to stay in the Mortal Realm to look into the issues that are associated with Mortals' Daily Life.
Even though Zao Jun is being appointed to stay in the "Kitchen", actually he got quite a High Ranking in the Chinese Deity System.
According to records, on every Genh Sheng Day (60 Days once), Zao Jun will personally perform his inspection task around All Household and on every 3 Days, he will summoned his assistants to do checking on the various issues that happened around the area.
And so, for this Bao Gao, it is being recited to Praise on the hardwork & effort that Zao Jun had put in, in assisting the needy and Mortals.
This is a Bao Gao that seldom being used in our Local Rituals/Ceremonies, but in other Countries, where Grand Rituals/Ceremonies are being conducted, Zao Jun will be invited and so, this Bao Gao will be recited by the Leading Priests.
For one self, you can do reciting on every 1st & 15th Day or on the Anniversary Day of Zao Jun and the 24th Day of Lunar 12 Month.
Once Zao Jun got the signal from one self, he will provide the necessary blessing.

Master, If one do not have Zao Jun jin shen at home, how can we recite the praise mantra for him? Can we recite the mantra in front of our altar or facing the heaven?
ReplyDeleteYes, as long as there is a stove in a house, Zao Jun will be present to do the blessing and protection, for those who do not dedicate any Spiritual Objects to Zao Jun, can just recite it infront of the main altar when one self is paying respect to the Other Deities.

ReplyDeleteCan you still pay respect to the Kitchen Deity or do reciting in your house even when there is no sending out or receiving of Kitchen Deity done during the Lunar Celebrations or any form of respect is done to the Deity in the house?
Yes, of cos you can recite the Bao Gao. For those who didnt have the Tablet in the Kitchen, you all can recite it while honouring the Home Deities. Kitchen Deity will still be there to provide the necessary blessings.
