In Singapore, there is a Temple that dedicated to Lord Shen Nong that one must really visit.
This Temple is known as Jie Gu Dian (介穀殿), now located in Zhen Long Gong (真龍宮/真人宮) at Redhill Close.
According to record, Jie Gu Dian was set-up in the early 20s by the Hokkien Immigrants from Tong An (由一群從中國同安過番的先賢們所創立). During that period, the Temple was located at Bukit Ho Swee (河水山), Si Jiao Ting Area (四腳亭處).
After the Temple had set-up, in 1930s, the members of the Temple had also set-up a school in the area to provide education to the kids staying in the area.
May 1965, a fire broke-off at Bukit Ho Swee, most of the houses & buildings were destroyed and so, Jie Gu Dian had to shift to Mi Fen Pu (米粉埔) – where Bukit Merah Central is now.
In 1970s, due to the land where Jie Gu Dian was sitting-on was being acquisited by the Government, it had to shift into a combined temple with the other 3 Temples – which now the combined Temple is known as Zhen Long Gong (真龍宮).
Brief History Background of Jie Gu Dian (中國福建介穀殿簡介):
The origin Jie Gu Dian was built in Song Dynasty Qian Heng 3rd Year AD981 (介穀殿始建於宋朝乾亨三年即公元九八一年), in Hokkien Province Xiamen City Xiang An Area Xin Yu Village (座落於中國福建省厦门市翔安區新圩村), dedicating to Lord Shen Nong.
In Ming Dynasty Long Qing 3rd Year AD 1569 (明朝隆慶三年即公元一五六九年), due to serious flooding, the Temple was being destroyed, but the statue of Lord Shen Nong was not damaged.
In Ming Dynasty Wan Li 9th Year AD 1581 (明朝萬歷九年即公元一五八一年), with the assistance of the villagers, Jie Gu Dian was being rebuilt again and the undamaged statue of Lord Shen Nong was being invited back to “sit” in the Temple again on the same spot where the old temple was destroyed.
Year 1999, a major reconstruction was carried-on in-order to preserve the Historical Building and upon completion, Jie Gu Dian was being renamed to Yan Di Dian (炎帝殿) – to significant a “Major Promotion” to the Temple.
Since then, this Temple was being marked as the Ancestral Temple of Lord Shen Nong for ALL Shen Nong Temples in South East Asia (炎帝殿被視為東南亞各別神農廟之祖廟).
