Introduction on Spiritual Animal Pi Xiu (神獸貔貅簡介)

Pi Xiu (貔貅) aka Tian Lu (天鹿) aka Heavenly Deer, one of the 10 Spiritual Animals in the Ancient Era (上古十大神獸).

According to ancient records, the earliest Period that Pi Xiu being recorded was in Han Dynasty. At the Era, Pi Xiu was believed to be one of the Spiritual Animal that would assist the Mortals in getting the blessing of Prosperity & luck for Promotion, due to these, Pi Xiu was given another name as Tian Lu (Lu 鹿 in Chinese pronunciation is the same Lu 祿 that meant Prosperity).

In Taoism, Pi Xiu is considers as the carriage of Heavenly Marshal Wang Ling Guan (王靈官坐騎). During Wang Ling Guan is out for inspection, Pi Xiu will be by his side to assist him in eliminating of devils & negative forces.

Due to these abilities, in the Ancient Era, folks would dedicated carving to Pi Xiu and then placed the carvings outside the premises to do the warding-off of Bad-luck and Negative Entities.

In Myth, the items that Pi Xiu ate are un-wanted gold-bars, silver-bars, pearls, coins & coppers. And because of this myth, a lot of Geomancy Masters & Teachers will advise folks to buy Pi Xiu as one of the auspicious items for gaining of Luck of Wealth (this sounds a bit ridiculous).

Here goes the story of Pi Xiu:

Immediately the soul is being summoned to the Nether World. Upon asking, King of Hade (冥王) knows that this man is innocent, King of Hade send a Report to Heaven for pleading of releasing the man back to Mortal World. Soon the request is granted.

After the man returned to the Mortal World, he realize that Pi Xiu is still there, standing besides his body. Even though the man is scared but this time round, he walk towards the Pi Xiu to ask Pi Xiu why he is standing there.

Immediately, Pi Xiu replies the man: I saw you went to rest, in-order not for any other fierce creatures to eat you up, I stand by your side to protect you.

After listening to the reply, the man is moved and tells the whole incident to Pi Xiu. Pi Xiu is shocked and felt apologetic to him.

Soon, a light-ray from Heaven shined onto Pi Xiu. Upon looking up, Pi Xiu and the man see a figure approaching them. Within a few seconds, Wang Ling Guan appeared in front of them. Upon telling them that he is being appointed to bring Pi Xiu back to Heaven, the man is delighted and Pi Xiu is shocked by the news.

After departing with the man, Pi Xiu follows Wang Ling Guan back to the Celestial Palace in the Heavenly Realm.

  5. For those in pair are usually a male & a female.

But in the Ancient Era, usually people will dedicate one carving for Pi Xiu, unless the people wanted to put a pair outside the main door.

  6. Is Pi Yao a pi xiu too? is it just the other term for it? Sometimes the appearance of Xie Zhi And Pi Xiu can be confusing, since both also have a single horn. What are the things to look out for to differentiate the two?

  7. Pi Yao, the Yao is in which character?

Yes, alot of Ppl tend to mix-up Xie Zhi & Pi Xiu,some even mistaken it as Qi Lin.

For Qi Lin, look out for the scales on the body.

For Pi Xiu, look out for the little wings grown on the shoulder, if dont have, look out for thr 3rd eye.

For Xie Zhi, look out for the long-hair or fur that grow on the body, if not, look out for the long nose that some Xie Zhi have... some ppl tend to make a Xie Zhi having a nose of an Ant-eater.

  13. How come according to another website it says that this animal Pi Xiu has no anus and therefore it stores all the wealth absorbed and will not let it out. So my question is how did he discharge his wastes after eating of foods, which are not only metals of golds or silver, right?.

  14. Haha, yes in myth, it does say that. Actually Pi Xiu dont eat food but only wealth. Cos Pi Xiu was being punished by the Heaven for being disrespect and so, it's anus was being closed up for good.
