Lunar Year Customs – 10th Day of Lunar New Year (農曆正月習俗之初十好吃日)

Rating:★★★
Category:Other

Tenth Day of Lunar New Year, known as the Day of Having a Great Feast. In Hokkien Custom, this Day is called Hao Chia Lit (好吃日) or Chuan Chia Lit (全吃日).

Why this Day got such a Special Name?

Due to the left over offerings from the Ceremony of Honouring Jade Emperor of Heaven on the 9th Day, so, the folks will prepare another round of minor reunion meal for the whole family and so, the folks address this day as Day of Having a Great Feast.

Even though this Day got the name of Having a Great Feast, but some folks will tend to consume simple meals or items on the 10th Day, reason, to cut down too much oily stuffs, etc.

Cos the folks know that, on the coming 15th Day, there will be another round of Great Feast waiting for them.
