Pictures of Hainanese Deity Xian Fu Ren (海南守護神冼夫人)

Xian Fu Ren (冼夫人) aka Madam Xian, real name known as Xian Zhen (冼珍), born in Pre-Sui Dynasty, Liang Kingdom (the Chaotic Nan Bei Period 生于隋朝前南北朝時代), at AD512. Hometown in Gao Liang Jun, which is now Guang Dong Province, Yang Jiang Area (家鄉於高涼郡﹐現今廣東省陽江﹐which was the hometown for non-Chinese Tribal Group – the Nan Yue Tribe 為南越族群居住地).

After growing up, in AD535, Madam Xian married to a Magistrate Officer of Guang Dong Province, name known as Feng Bao (馮寶 Marriage between a Nan Yue Tribe & Chinese 南越華族通婚).

Due to the misunderstanding between Nan Yue Tribe and Chinese (平息南越華族干戈), both groups almost engaged in battling at the time. After Madam Xian married to Feng Bao, she tried her best to resolve the misunderstandings. Within months, she succeeded.

After resolving the misunderstanding between the Nan Yue Tribe & Chinese, Madam Xian led the Hainanese from Hainan Island to be part of the citizens of Emperor Liang (帶領海南族群歸附梁國). From then, Hainaneses show their gratitude to her by respecting her as one of the Ancestor Patrons of the Hainanese Clan (後被海南族群祀封為守護神).

AD589, Madam Xian was being appointed by the Sui Empire as the Overall General-in-charge to stop the revolution started by some of the rebellious minor Kingdoms (left over from the Nan Bei Chaotic Period).

AD590, all rebellious minor Kingdoms were being conquered and Madam Xian was being bestowed with the title of Jiao Guo Fu Ren (Lady of Jiao Guo 谯国夫人).

AD602, Madam Xian passed away with an age of 91.

Due to her contributions,credits, merits and braveness in conquering the rebellious and bringing the peacefulness among the Chinese & Non-chinese, Madam Xian was being respect as a Deity.

Till today, in Hainan Province Hai Kou Area (海南海口市), temples dedicated to Madam Xian can still be found, Every year, on her anniversary (24 Day of Lunar 11 Month 農曆十一月二十四日), a lot of Hainaneses will returned to Hai Kou to pay respect to her.
