Bao Sheng Da Di (保生大帝) aka Wu Zhen Ren (吳真人) or Da Dao Gong (大道公), real name was known as Wu Tao 吳本 (which later people mistaken the character Tao as Ben).
Bao Sheng Da Di, born in Song Dynasty 宋朝 (15th Day of Lunar 3rd Month 農曆三月十五日), hometown at Hokkien Quan Zhou Tong An Bai Jiao Village (中國福建泉州同安白礁鄉).
Due to his contribution in Medication, healing of different types of diseases and illnesses, he was being honoured as the Deity of Medicine (醫神) since the Ancient Era.
In myth, he did cure the sore-eyes of a Dragon (點龍睛), took out a human bone from a Tiger's throat (醫虎喉, which later the Tiger became his carriage), etc.
Till today, around Asia, there's still a large number of Devotees who honour Bao Sheng Da Di in-order to get their sickness or illness cured.

ReplyDeleteCan you give english translation of the mantra?
Chow
Here’s a quick and brief translation of the Mantra.
ReplyDeleteIn this mantra, it tells us how Bao Sheng Da Di got his enlightenment.
In-order to assist the “lost” group of Mortals, actually Bao Sheng Da Di made a Great Vow in helping the Mortals to step out of the dilemma/suffering.
After Bao Sheng Da Di made his vow, he began his path towards enlightenment by helping the needy (who suffered from all kinds of sicknesses and sufferings).
In-order to do his self-cultivation, he had to get rid of all greed in his mind, soul and physical appearance. He put down all his cravings and maintained concentration on his self-training, etc.
He treated all needy like his parent (whenever they need help, he will be there to assist them).
On the day of his enlightenment, he was given an Official title by the Heaven of Wan Shou Wu Ji Bao Sheng Da Di (meaning: Eternal Life, Looking after the living beings).
