  2. All the above are Real Teochew Historical Characters in our Chinese History and most of their descendants are still around, which you may be one of them.

Usually only the Descendants have their Pics or Painting. They cant be regarded as Deities, but form of Ancestors Honouring.

For Teochew, usually people will honour Teochew Pek Kong, which is Jie Zi Tui (介子推) which in Singapore, he appeared in Old Man form stepping on a Tiger.

Other than that, mostly are Buddhist Deities or Beings.

  3. is it 感天大帝??a full dress of general wif white beard carry a sword and stepping a tiger ?

  4. Yes is Gan Tian Da Di. But the statue is not correct, so it defeat the purpose of honouring that statue.

    ReplyDelete
  5. then how is correct the statue look like

  8. Shifu, thanks you very much for yr effort and explaination. So 感天大帝 is the deity for Teochew Clan as we know as Teochew Pek Kong. but in yr last replied you mentoned stepping tiger but by going thru the abv 2 link u advise and posted, why there isn't any tiger stay wif the statues but it become dragon- i mean some of his statues show he step dragon ??
secondly, back to my enquiry, so now we know for Teochew dialect, the protector deity is 感天大帝, then how abt the suranme Ng deity ??

    ReplyDelete
  9. shifu, sorry another question pertain to the abv 2 links, are they the same deity ?? or rather to say the same person ?? i mean is 許天師 & 介子推 same person ??

  10. shifu, i had go thru the Q & A fm u below the abv 2 link and understand that 許天師 & 介子推 is NOT the same person, they are total 2 separate person. but then in yr both links u mentioned both are also pray by Teochew Clan and Hockchew Clan as protecor deity,. then who is the actual one or rather to say who is the real Teochew Clan deity ??

  11. Yes, they are 2 different people.

Jie Zi Tui is being given the title of Gan Tian Da Di due to his Filial Peity.

Xu Tian Shi is given the title by Heaven due to his credit and merit.

Like what I have posted before, in total, there are 3 Gan Tian Da Di, the last one is already being forgotten by the Chinese.

Xu Xun Tian Shi dont really step on Tiger only, cos he had subdued alot of demons before, including Snake, Dragon, Tiger, etc etc...

Due to the background & hometown of Jie Zi Tui, mostly Teochew & Hockchew will pay respect to him.

And to be more accurate, Teochew Clan do not have any Direct Protector Patrons, unlike the other Clans.
