Dotting Ceremony at Long Shan Men Disciple Alvin's Home - Preparation (龍山門八弟子宅中開光安座法事)

After 2 years of waiting, Finally Alvin’s Home is able to install with an Altar for the Honouring of Long Shan Men’s Major Deities (正一龍山門主神) and also, the Spiritual Protector of himself.

On the 21st Day of Lunar 2 Month, Vabien Lee & I went up to Alvin’s Home to prepare for the Dotting that took place on the next Day. Upon arriving at Alvin’s Home, certain items were already in Place and ready for the setting up. This was really great and much appreciated.

After a quick unpacking, the 1st Ceremony to be conducted for the Dotting was the Enhancing of Urn for the Main Altar (開爐).

With the assistances of Vabien, the Urn was ready to be enhanced after I made a short reporting to the Heaven, Deities and Ancestors of Long Shan Men.

Starting with the Cleansing of the Urn using Cleansing Water & Spiritual Fire, followed by Enhancing the Spiritual Gems for Urn (安爐寶 – Special Items that used by Long Shan Men) and last, adding in the Ashes.

Upon completion of the Enhancing of Urn, Red Ribbon (紅彩球) & Golden Flower (金花) must be placed onto the Urn for Prosperity Blessing.

The whole Enhancing Ceremony took about 1 hour to complete and last, asking Alvin to personally invite the Urn onto the Main Altar to signify the Altar was being Set up with his own Effort and also, to make request for Blessing for his own Future and Family.

PS: Thanks to Vabien for sharing with us the Photos.

  1. Congrats Alvin on your new house and my compliments to Sifu Jave for performing such a perfect ritual for Alvin. I really envy for Bro. Jave to come over to my house and do such a tremendous job. Not all sifu will do a complete ritual and things seems to be short cut along the way. Well done and well explain Sifu.

  3. Hi Master, I heard it is not suitable for an altar to be situated just beside an open window. Is that true? Also, what are the locations or directions that are not suitable for altars to be situated on in Taoist context? Thanks.

  4. Not necessary to be unsuitable to place an altar besides the windows, this depend on the auspiciousspot and also, the brightness of the spot.

Usually we dont used North East Direction.

  5. Hi Master, Northeast direction as in the back of the altar should not face Northeast or the face of the deity should not face Northeast or the altar should not be situated in the Northeast sector of the house? Thanks for your advice.

  6. Sitting at Northeast facing Southwest and also, sitting on Southwest facing Northeast. These 2 positions are forbidden in Taoism.

  7. Hi Master, Northeast and Southwest does it refer only to 15-degrees on the 艮 and 坤 line on the compass or does it include the entire 45-degrees including 丑, 寅, 未, 申? I realised my altar is sitting on 未 and facing 丑. Is it affected?

  8. 艮寅丑﹐坤申未. All are affected.
Yours are minor as in the direction is not station at the "Tail" of Southwest.

  9. Is it necessary to move the altar in this case? I am using the cupboard type of altar, if I shift it a bit to sit on 丁 and face 癸, the back will not be against a wall but there is the cupboard wall to back up the deities, is it ok in this case? What would be the implications if the altar stays in its current direction? Is there a danger of invasion by ghosts?
