Hi folks,
This afternoon, packing in a very tight tour for my friends visiting from America (their first trip), I dropped by the Keng Teck Whay Building (next Thian Hock Keng) - Thanks to Bro Jave's alert in the facebook. It was only a few minutes but it did give me the impression that this building is on its way to its former glory. Yes, much work needs to be done. Master Li and the team were there making the best of what they can from the building facing disrepair. Master Tan was telling me that the recent rain has actually spurred further growth of plants on the buildings - you can see the picture below taken from inside. This is the second time I am inside this building and this time, I made it to the inner court! (^^) The first time was with Geraldene's tour.
Today is a feast day of Ling Bao Tian Jun and Taoism Mission conducts the feast day in this building. An appropriate event. I think if the building could be assured of its safety pending the restoration, it would be great to open it to allow tourists to viist and maybe, they will be inspired to contribute towards its restoration. Won't it be great to have the world's support. Maybe a website listing the names of the donors! And maybe members of our list could come together to conduct tours on the rich history of this building as well as on Taoism for members of the list and public. We could use this event as an opportunity for the participants to contribute towards the temple. And to quote Bro Jave. "Saving Heritage is the same as Saving our Roots"
