the piece of paper is stick on gate. so invited souls will pass the gate but where will they settle down. cause normally in salvation ceremony, we will see 寒林院 in the form of paper hse. btw is 翰林院 or 寒林院?
That is only to represent the spot used to "keep" the Souls, usually the Souls will be guided to another spot for other offerings in the Temple or besides the Kitchen.
i see. so in this temple, instead of settling them down into a paper house, they will be guided to a specific location in the temple to receive their offerings? am i right to say that?
Most probably and/or they will only invite the Souls at the end of the whole Ritual, meaning that, a short stay for them that no need any form of physical housing.
Han Lin Bao Suo is the place they settle down the spirits from all places, for the salvation ceremony?
ReplyDeleteA Heng Hwa term?

ReplyDeleteNo, this is a common term used in Taoist Ritual.
ReplyDeleteHan Lin Suo, for 2 purposes, 1 to settle down the various Souls - act as an Inn for them, 1 act as the Settling Home for the Souls of Academic People.

ReplyDelete翰林院 or 寒林院, both can be used.

ReplyDeleteThis needed to be sound together with the Drum.
ReplyDeleteDrum on Left and this Ding on Right (just like Wooden Fish and the Copper Bowl).
Usually used during the Invitation of Deities or Welcoming of High Position Immortals.
All together must have 108 sounding.
