Category:Other

In Taoism & other Chinese Religions, Paper Offering is one of the many types of Offerings that Chinese needed to prepare before any form of Honouring.

In here, I will like to share with ALL of you on a Type of Paper that being used to Get-rid & Negative Energies and to Change of Luck while Oneself is being Disturbed by Non-positive Issues.

This Type of Paper is known as Bu Yun Zhi (補運紙) or Gai Lian Zhi (改連紙) aka The Changing of Luck Paper.

Due to misconception & misunderstanding, this Type of Paper is being Wrongly use in nowadays, Folks thought that by Burning this Type of Paper, Oneself will be able to gain Wealth Blessing and able to Strike any form of Lottery, but actually is not.

So what is the Main Purpose of using this Type of Paper?

According to Records, this Type of Paper got a few Usages:

1) Sending-off Negative Energies that cause Oneself to be Bad Luck (去除穢氣)

2) To Replenish the Spiritual Coffer of Oneself (填補生庫)

3) To Request for Eliminating of Sins & Debts that Oneself had made (解厄消災)

For this Type of Paper, usually it will be used during Taoist Rituals/Ceremonies or any form of Celebration that conducted by the Taoist Priests. After several rounds of Chanting, this Paper will be burnt in-order for the Names of the Devotees to be recorded and then, the necessary Spiritual Actions to be carried out.

Most commonly seen of the using of such Paper will be during the Filling/Replenishing of Spiritual Coffer Ritual/Ceremony aka Bu Ku Ke Yi (補庫科儀), besides that, sometime during the Honouring of the Great Dipper Ritual/Ceremony (禮斗科儀), such Paper will also be used.

So if Oneself is not able to join in any of the above mentioned Rituals/Ceremonies, how can Oneself present this Paper to the Deities?

That's easy. Oneself just needed to go to any Incenses-paper Shop, ask them for Bu Yun Zhi or Gai Lian Zhi, after getting them, take out 3 small stacks from the Big Bundle. Together with 3 stacks of Shou Jin (壽金) or San Bao Jin (三寶金). Remember to write One's Chinese Name & DOB on the Bu Yun Zhi - just write on the side or any blank area.

Sincerely use the stack of Papers to honour One's Home Deities and then burn them off after 15 minutes.

Remember before the Honouring, do prepare 3 New cups of Chinese Tea (香茗) or Water (清水) for the Deities. For this, need not much Offerings, unless you insist of getting some Fruits, Flowers, etc.

After the Burning of the Papers, make a nice Shower and then go for a Walk or Meet-up with Friends. After then, the Bad Energies will be Eliminated and Good Luck will slowly be Bestowed upon Oneself.

Best advised is that, try to join in any of the Above mentioned Taoist Rituals/Ceremonies.

  4. Usually for burning of Incense-paper, we try not to do it after Sunset. This refers to ALL types and not only this type.

  5. Hello Jave Wu Shifu,

I stumbled on your website in regards of 補庫. I am just wondering whether you know anywhere in Singapore or Malaysia that carry out this 補庫科儀 - spiritual supplementation service. Do you conduct this service? Thank you for answering my enquiry.

  6. Now those ceremonies that you can see or find outside are not the Official Taoist Bu Ku Ritual. Such Rituals, you will need to seek the assistance from Taoist Priests or Taoist Master.

Bu Ku will only be done on certain days. Usually 15th of 1st Month/7th Month/10th Month.

Yes, I do conduct this Ritual.

  13. Hi Jave

Just left out something, can BU YUN ZHI be added to the joss papers for praying during that day (lunar 6 month 7th day)

    Thank you
    Andy

  14. Actual Day shall be on the 6th Day of Lunar 6 Month and not 7th Day. 7th Day is being used by the Folks. Whereas Official Taoists will celebrate on the 6th Day.

Will do a write up soon on next week, do keep a close look out.

  16. Interesting.. what are the procedures involved in this ritual and do I have to be present to witness the ritual? Besides san yuan festivals and one's birthday, can the bu ku ritual be conducted on a deity's birthday?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Usually Oneself will be needed to be present, if cant, then the Priest will do some necessary arrangements.

Yes, some Bu Ku can be conducted on the Celebration of Deities' Anniversary.

  18. if one really in bad luck now...how to do a proper “转运”?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I will still advise the person to approach a Trained & Official Taoist Priest to conduct the Honouring of Bei Dou.

Only by doing so, then the Proper Energies will be enhanced onto oneself.

If Honouring is not enough, then usually we will advise people to do some minor charity (within the ability) and after that, do a proper hair-cut to change the "luck".

  20. Hello Shifu, may I ask, how fast does one notice the changes if I use this type of paper? Also, if a big temple is very far away, can I just do honoring near a Tu Di miao?

    ReplyDelete
  21. This depends too. For my experience, some will take effect on the very same day after burning, some will take at least 6 mths to see certain changes.

    Tu Di Temple cannot.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh, so what kind of prayer/honoring can be done in Tu Di temple?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Usually normal honouring, not much Ceremonies will be done there.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Also, Gui Ren paper can be used in Tu Di temple? Sorry Shifu if I'm too "ma fan". Your info is really helpful, I really appreciate it :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Gui Ren paper can be used.
    No worries :P

  26. Shifu, recently I tried to buy Gui Ren paper (Taiwan). However they dont have the same kind we have in SE Asia (with Jin Pai, Red amulet, etc). Instead they gave me this: http://sunhouse.organism.tw/stores/rich/Goods/04.%E7%99%BC%E8%B2%A1%E9%87%91/_w/%E8%B2%B4%E4%BA%BA%E9%87%91_jpg.jpg I still used it. Is that OK?

    ReplyDelete
  27. But it doesn't have the "gui ren fu" (red paper to be put in Angpao). So... Is this new type still OK? Or is it better to look for the other style?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yup, this is new type.

Another way is that, you can contact our local Incense-paper Dealer, see whether they will assist you sending the papers over to your hometown.

You can call this number to check: +65 6753 5533

  29. Hi Master, I have seen before this Changing of Luck paper with many other types of paper like White Tiger paper and Tai Sui paper in this similar type of yellow paper wrapped inside a piece of Gui Ren Fu sold in the joss paper shop. What is that used for and how is it different from using it alone like here?

    ReplyDelete
  30. These type of papers actually assist people in getting rid of the negative entities around them and also, to boost the positive energies to be enhanced onto one's physical body in-order to gain the blessing to over come certain bad encounters.
