In here, you all will be watching the Video Clip on Taoist Ceremony - Xie Tan.
Xie Tan is considered as the Last Ceremony to be conducted during a Big Celebration.
In the Xie Tan, the Leading Priest will do a quick report and then Send-off the Necessary Deities, then getting Rid of the Excess Negative Entities using the Blood of Duck (壓煞) and last, to receive Blessing using the Rooster's Blood (祈福).
Hope you all enjoyed.
Thanks much enjoyed. 1) Was this one of our local Singapore Tor-su (taoist priest) ? 2) Besides ducks and chicken are other birds used in these rituals? 3) The ritual we just saw, what was the reason for performing it?
ReplyDeleteNo, this type if Xie Tan can only be seen in Taiwan now. Nowadays, due to Cutting-corners, such Rituals are not being seen else where.
ReplyDeleteOnly Ducks & Chickens can be used, cos of the Significates that these 2 Birds have.
This Xie Tan is a Ritual to round up the Whole Day/Period Ceremony, this is why, it is being placed at the Last.
Are the 2 Birds used cos of the "Xie Yin" it has, with the Purpose of "Ya Sha" and "Qi Fu"?
ReplyDeletePart of the Purpose is that.
ReplyDeleteWonderfull! It seens he uses the duck to make the purification is not it? Yi sa tian qing er sa di nig san sa liu ren men si sa wu hui hua wei chen
ReplyDeleteUsing of Duck is to Ward off the remaining Negative Entities. After doing so, the Cleansing or Purification will be considered fully done.
