ReplyDeleteTell me, except celebrating her birthday, how the fishermen are celebrating their goddess ? I mean, do they have an altar in their boat, in their home, some statues or posters in their boat ? Is there some superstitions linked to the sea and the goddess ?
Welcome.
ReplyDeleteYes, in the past, some of the boat-men will dedicate a small wooden statue on the boat or ship, every day, the boat-men will offer incenses to Ma Zu to seek her protection and blessing.
For those who cant afford statues, they will buy simple painting or talismans with Ma Zu's title on it and then paste them in the boat or ship.
Everytime, when they arrive on the shore safely, the 1st thing that such boat-men will do is, to visit Temples with Ma Zu to pay their respect.
Thanks :-)
