Manifestation Anniversary (Birthday) of Bao Sheng Da Di (保生大帝千秋聖誕)

Bao Sheng Da Di aka Lord Bao Sheng, real name known as Wu Tao (吳本), born in Song Dynasty and was well-equipped with the Knowledge of Chinese Physician Skills and Spiritual Art.

After years of self cultivation and the credits that being accumulated by the assisting of the Mortals, Bao Sheng Da Di got his enlightenment.

After getting his enlightenment, Bao Sheng Da Di still choose to stay in this Mortal World to assist the Mortals to overcome the infection of diseases and virsus. Till today, in many Chinese Countries, when Taoists or Chinese got sick, they will still visit Temples that dedcated to Bao Sheng Da Di to seek his advise on the curing method, etc.

In Ming Dynasty, the belief of Bao Sheng Da Di got more popular and wide-spreaded all over the Country.

Due to the immediate Spiritual assistances that Bao Sheng Da Di provide to the Taoists & Chinese of that Era, different Ming Emperors did bestowed various Official Title to Bao Sheng Da Di.

Back to main point, on the 15th Day of Lunar 3 Month (農曆三月日), it is considered as the Manifestation Anniversary or so-called Birthday of Bao Sheng Da Di (for Year 2008, it falls on 20 April). On this Day, the Chinese or Taoists will visit Temples that dedicate Altars or Statues to Bao Sheng Da Di to make their respect.

And so, what to prepare?

According to our Chinese Custom & Folks Practice, here are some recommended items to be prepared for the paying respect:

1 Five Oranges (桔子)
2 Longevity Noodles (壽麵)
3 Longevity Peaches (壽桃)
4 Ang Ku Kueh (紅龜粿)
5 Huat Kueh (發糕)
6 Rice Wine (米酒)
7 Chinese Tea (茶)
8 Paper Offerings (紙料)
9 Candles (蠟燭)

Once all these stuffs are prepared and ready, then one self can proceed to the Temple.

1st, pay respect to the Heaven & Main Deities in the Temple and then last, proceed to the Altar that honoured Bao Sheng Da Di.

Make a Bow in front of the Altar and then sincerely kneel down and proceed with the following Passage (for those who know how to recite the Bao Gao of Bao Sheng Da Di, can recite it first before reciting the following Passage):

今逢。
Jin Feng.

保生大帝。(拜)
Xuan Tian Shang Di (Bow)

千秋聖誕之期。
Qian Qiu Sheng Dan Zhi Qi.

南洋新加坡共和國。 (你的住址) 。
Nan Yang Xin Jia Po Gong He Guo. (Your Address)

信士 (你的名字) 。及闔家同人。
Xin Shi (Your Name). Ji He Jia Tong Ren.

於此。
Yu Ci

虔備薄禮酒儀。
Qian Bei Bo Li Jiu Yi.

敬向。
Jing Xiang.

保生大帝。(拜)
Bao Sheng Da Di (Bow)

虔誠請安。慶賀聖誕。
Qian Cheng Qing An. Qing He Sheng Dan.

於此虔祈。
Yu Ci Qian Qi.

保生大帝。(拜)
Bao Sheng Da Di (Bow)

保民身健體安康。生氣助順化逆蹤。
Bao Min Shen Jian Ti An Kang. Sheng Qi Zhu Shun Hua Ni Zong

大慈庇佑顯神能。帝前敬上三謝香。
Da Ci Bi You Xian Shen Neng. Di Qian Jing Shang San Xie Xiang.

以佑。
Yi You.

信士 (你的名字) 。及闔家同人。
Xin Shi (Your Name). Ji He Jia Tong Ren.

一年健康常在。月月否極泰來。
Yi Nian Jian Kang Chang Zai. Yue Yue Pi Ji Tai Lai.

四季神人相助。萬事遂心平安。
Si Ji Shen Ren Xiang Zhu. Wan Shi Sui Xin Ping An.

於此。
Yu Ci.

信士 (你的名字) 。及闔家同人。
Xin Shi (Your Name). Ji He Jia Tong Ren.

敬向。
Jing Xiang.

保生大帝。(拜)
Bao Sheng Da Di (Bow)

獻三拜三叩禮。
Xian San Bai Li.

一拜。再拜。三拜。禮成。(起立)
Yi Bai. Zai Bai. San Bai. Li Cheng (Raise)


After rising, make another sincere Bow and then left the spot.

After about 15 minutes, retrieve the Paper-offerings and then burn them off.

Once the Paper-offerings are being burnt, go back to the Altar, make another sincere Bow and then retrieve back the Offerings, bring them back home and share with the other members in the Family.

And so, the whole Paying Respect to Bao Sheng Da Di is considered end.

    Which set is recognized in religious Taoism?

  7. Dear Bro,
    According to records/saying, Bao Sheng Da Di's 36 Generals was being borrowed by him from Xuan Tian.
    In Taoism, there are at least 4-5 diff sets.
    The one with Wang Ling Guan as the Leader, is the one that being recognised by the Official Taoism.

  8. I would like to know is Bao Sheng Da Di is the same as "Qu Ze Zhun Wang". As i know Hui Ze Zun Wang have three sword brothers and they are 1st ...Qu Ze Zun Wang, 2nd is Hui Ze Zun Wang and the last is Gung Ze Zun Wang...pls correct me i'm wrong....thks

  11. I have another question...in malaysia, johor bahru, many of us worship to " Ang Seh Kong" or "Hong Sen Da Di". Do you know where does Ang Seh Kong come from which part of china??????. Do it have another name in china????

  12. According to records, ang sian kong is a very local deity that owe by Malaysia, it is impossible to find him at other places. Some said he is connected with gan tian da di, some said is a earth deity, etc.
