Jing Zhe Ri (驚螫日)

Rating:★★★
Category:Other

Jing Zhe Ri aka Jing Zhe Day, a Day to mark the awaken of the Planet Earth after the long cold season (for the past 4 Months).

On this Day, usually raining, slight storm will occurred and a Loud Thunder Roar will be heard.

For Wu Zi Year or Year 2008, Jing Zhe Ri falls on 28th Day of Lunar 1 month, which is 5th Mar 2008, timing starts at 13:13 pm.

Why is there a Loud Thunder Roar and why is it so Special?

In the Ancient Era, Folks believed that this is the Thunder Roar that sounded to wake-up all Beings that are sleeping or resting. Once this Thunder Roar is being sounded, then all Beings will have to wake-up and carry on with their normal living (平地一聲雷,大地復甦醒).

Besides that, what the Chinese will do on this Day?

Due to this is the Day of All Beings being waken up by the Thunder Roar, All Animals will also be waken up, this includes that Tiger Deity that the Chinese, Taoists or Folks pay respect to.

On this Day, the people will prepare the following offerings to pay respect to Tiger Deity for the blessing of getting rid of Back-stabbers aka Xiao Ren (小人): (A lot of Folks tend to mistaken this Day as rhe Birthday of Tiger Deity)

1 A few Raw eggs (幾只生雞蛋)
2 A piece of Raw Pork meat with fats (豬肉與豬油)
3 A handful of Uncooked Yellow Noodles (生面)
4 A piece of Tau Kua aka Beancurd (豆干)
5 2 or 5 Oranges (桔子)
6 Jian Hup & Tea Leaves (餞盒與茶葉)
7 Paper Offerings for Tiger Deity (usually can get in the Temple 虎神紙料)

Once all these items are being prepare, then the paying respect can take place.

So how to go about with the paying respect?

Once in the Temple, lay out the offerings, if the Temple allowed, place the Meat in the mouth of the Statue of the Tiger Deity.

After the laying out of the offerings, pay respect to Heaven and the Main Deities in the Temple and then, last, pay respect to the Tiger Deity.

During the paying respect, report one self name, the Date, the reason of this paying respect, etc.

After that, take out the Paper Offerings, get the Red Paper Doll & Green Horse, paste them together on the Pink Paper, after that, Paste them on the Wall provided and then burn off the remaining Paper Offerings.

In here, I wont encourage people of beating the Xiao Ren, cos, here you beat them, at the other sides, people are beating you too and so, once this continue, the Cycle wont stop (冤冤相報何時了).

If one self is that Generous and Kind to accept the others, one day, the others will be there to accept you and so, let the hatred gone with the Fire and Retrieve the Goodness back for All and one self (欣喜接納福氣至).

Once the burning is done, do not need to retrieve back the offerings, just leave the Temple and then forget about the whole situation.

So what is the best timing to pay respect?

The later the better.

If Jing Zhe Ri starts at 13:13pm (for Year 2008), try to visit the Temple to pay respect after 4-5 Hours later, allowed the Tiger Deity to have his full meal first, if not, those with weak body will be affected.

For Chinese Horoscope Monkey, remember that this is a Year for you all to Avoid the Tiger Deity, so do be careful.

  1. Tiger Deity

  3. should we pray to the normal tiger or white tiger.

    ReplyDelete
  4. White Tiger will never come down unless ppl specially invited him, if not, all Tiger Deities are normal Tiger Deities, which are the assistants of Tu Di Gong.

    ReplyDelete
  5. should we choose the tiger that go up hill or down hill

  6. Different cases, we will look into different form of Tiger Deity.

For Jing Zhe Ri, usually ppl will tend to pay respect to Luo Shan Hu, meaning coming down, but this will bring certain to certain ppl, especially those who got conflict with him on that year (2008 will be Monkey).

For returning home or Getting rid of Xiao Ren, usually ppl will tend to look for Shang Shan Hu, meaning returning to Mountain. This shall be the one that mortals shall look for, cos, once the Tiger return to the Mountain with the Xiao Ren, the Xiao Ren will be eaten up completely.

For the modern world today, mostly we can see are mix-&-match form of Tiger Deity, so no much different.

  7. we can see sometime the temple member help people pray take the incense paper hit on the tiger head what this means.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Wake the tiger up and requesting the tiger to listen to their requests and then eat up the Xiao Ren, which is not an encouragable action to do.

    ReplyDelete
  9. is it that everyone have to pray or only got like any problems need help from tiger god

    ReplyDelete
  10. What should we do if we can't get paper offerings for the tiger deity? Is it still ok to offer up?

    ReplyDelete
  11. If cant get, then just normal offerings will do.

    ReplyDelete
  12. What to do when there is no temple with tiger deity around?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Then dont pay respect to Tiger Deity, since the Tiger Deity is not invited, then might as well dont invite him, cos, its not easy to honour him.

    ReplyDelete
  14. A person with monkey zodiac, is it okay for that person to pray to Tiger Deity tmr?
Just normal prayers that request blessings.

    ReplyDelete
  15. No, Monkey are to avoid for the Whole Year.

    ReplyDelete
  16. How to see is climb hill up tiger? is it those closed mouth one?

    ReplyDelete
  17. By the posture.

Yes, usually down hill will be closing mouth, in order not to hurt anyone one and while is up the hill, the mouth must be open in order to eat the bad stuffs.

    ReplyDelete
  18. how we know who cant pray for each yr? n how we know when the thunder roar?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Usually only certain Ppl will get the Records on who are not able to pay respect to the Tiger Deity or who had Conflict with Tiger Deity, as for outside, mostly they just wanted to make a commercial value out of it, etc.

Nowadays, due to the Weather Change, the Thunder Roar is hard to be heard or rarely Roar, so sometime, one self had to pay very close attention....

  20. No wonder there are two types of tiger god at pandan garden sheng hong temple. The closed mouth is sat below sheng ong gong while the down hill one is facing outside the temple, mouth wide open.

  21. Some people they know how to make respect to Tiger Deity will know the way of placing them, whereas those who dont know, will only choose the nice design and anyhow dedicated a place to set up the altar, which is not good for both the Honouring Place and the Devotees.

    ReplyDelete
  22. How to resolve for those born in monkey year? I mean those who have worshipped tiger god and as a result ,faced some conflicts.
Is there any cure ? Thanks master

    ReplyDelete
  23. If such ppl insist to pay respect to Tiger Deity and got a serious conflict or outcome, then no one can assist him/her unless he/she faithfully & sincerely seek assistance from another Deity - not any mediums.

If the person got a result of dying after that, then this is fated, no one can stopped.

In the past, this dies happened, when one person is to avoid honouring of Tiger Deity on that day & that year and that person accidentally come across Tiger Deity and make a bow to him, the person fainted and then passed away without any illnesses or etc.

And so, no one can stopped this from happening if one self dont know how to avoid or save one self.

  24. If people out there puts a notice and says that it is other zodiac, for e.g. dog that cannot pray. But in fact, it is monkey.
A person with the monkey zodiac prays to Tiger Deity, how?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Then the people who put the notice or the Temple itself will have to bear the responsible, if anything will to happen.

Cos all these must have serious preparation being done before the actual day, same goes to Ritual/Ceremony.

This is why, our side never encourage people to seek helps from any public or un-trained Priests to perform such a prayer, especially those from China.

Only certain Priests from Hong Kong, Taiwan & Singapore are able to perform the Ritual/Ceremony.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh, I see.

Are you able to share some things about the preparation?

    ReplyDelete
  27. That are more on the Ritual side, will slowly share something, cos, once I share the whole thing and ppl misused it, it can cause big disaster.

    Hope you can understand.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Okay, sure.
    No worries, thanks.
Wouldn't want serious matters to happen.
    =)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hahahahaha, slowly I will do the explanation, but of cos, will keep certain things la :P

Chicken eggs also can .You can burn away all the paper stuffs as the end of the day, the temple keeper will also tear it off and burn away for us.

  37. We shall seek Master Jave for advice. However i heard that normally people will avoid praying on the very actual day. They feel is too "fierce" to pray .
You may pray after a few days after jing zhe.Correct me if i am wrong

    ReplyDelete
  38. True, what you had said is correct. Seldom the Known people will pay respect on the actual day.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks Jave, cos i am one of them who avoid praying on that day.

  40. for tiger deity, must one "huan shen" if the wishes that one asks him for, are realised?
For example, if they didn't make any promises...

i might be in taipei that week, think i shall go to a temple in taipei that has a tiger deity, over the weekend. Hence, i need to know if there's any need to "huan shen", cos i can't promise i will be able to return/

btw since u seem to be so familiar with taoist temples in Asia, would you know of any in taipei city centre, with the tiger deity? hehehe.. Thanks :P

i have been to the Xing Tian Gong and Long Shan Si in Taipei.. supercrowded.. but very nice, i like Long Shan Si a lot..
