Kui Xing aka Lord Kui, in Chinese, we address him as Kui Xing Ye (魁星爺) or Kui Xing Di Jun (魁星帝君) or Da Cheng Kui Xing (大成魁星).
Kui (魁) - meaning the First 4 Stars ("鬼斗" / "鬼勺" / "鬼權" / "鬼行") in the Great Dipper of the North (北斗星).
In Taoism, he is known as one of the few Deities that are put in-charge of Academic Study.
In the Ancient Era, scholars who wished to score high marks in their examinations or becoming the Top Scholar, they would need to go to Temples that dedicated to Kui Xing to pay respect before any examinations.
Today, in certain areas in Asia, there still some very traditional ceremonies of "Dotting of Students' Eyes and Brain" by Lord Kui Xing (thru the help of Priests or Mediums).
