Manifestation Anniversary of Lord Guan Yu 2013 (癸巳蛇年關聖帝君聖誕吉慶)

Lord Guan Yu aka Guan Gong in Folks Context, a Real Historical Character during the Three Kingdom Period. Till today, a lot of Non-Taoist Religions are fighting for the “ownersh...ip” of Guan Gong, which make it ridiculous and complicated. Even though this is so, Guan Gong will still provide the necessary Blessing for All Taoists.

Due to a lot of misconception and misinterpretation, a lot of Folks Culture and other Non-Taoist Religions tend to celebrate Guan Gong’s Birthday on the 13th Day of Lunar 5 Month, which is not accurate or Unrealistic .

According to History Records from various Contexts, Guan Gong’s Birthday was being recorded as 24th Day of Lunar 6 Month. Whereas, 13th Day of Lunar 5 Month shall be the Anniversary where Lord Guan Yu Sharpen his Sabre for the defeating of his Enemies and in Chinese Tradition, on this Day, while honouring of Lord Guan Yu, Wealth Blessing will be bestowed for those who are in Trading-line or Doing Businesses .

For Year 2013, Lord Guan Yu’s Anniversary falls on 31 July, a Wednesday.

Dao Diary 23 July 2013 - Road of Life (小道今日記 – 人生公路)

Dao Diary 23 July 2013 AM4:00

Life, is just like a long and endless road that we walk on.
No one will know what is waiting in front of us.
But, this is not the reason for us to slow down or stop walking.
If oneself will to slow down or to stop now, then forever oneself will not know the final result.
Why don’t, oneself walk another few steps more to meet up with the people and the things that waiting in front of us.

Being born into this World and as a human, we are fortunate.
We shall not give up on anything that easily.
Be fire, be Strong and be Brave.
Walk the whole Journey, maybe oneself will discover something meaningful in the whole life.

Remember this, Morning Sun will always rise for us.
We must enjoy it, show our gratitude to it.

May all be able to stay happy and positive at all time.

With Love.

Tian She Day of Year 2013 (癸巳蛇年全年天赦日)

Tian She Day (天赦日), translated as The Reparation & Eliminating Sins Day (赦罪消災).

In Taoist Culture, every Lunar Year, there are at least Six Tian She Day, each Season with at least Two Tian She Days f...all on Two Special Days.

For Year 2013, the Gui Si Snake Year, the 1st Tian She Day of Spring falls on the 02nd Day of Lunar 2 Month, which is on 13 March, a Wednesday.

The other Tian She Days of Lunar Gui Si Snake Year falls on the Dates as followed:

Spring: 02nd Day of Lunar 2 Month (13 March, a Wednesday) – face North West

Summer: 19th Day of Lunar 4 Month (28 May, a Tuesday) – face East

Summer: 20th Day of Lunar 6 Month (27 Jul, a Saturday) – face East

Autumn: 04th Day of Lunar 7 Month (10 Aug, a Saturday) – face North East

Winter: 22nd Day of Lunar 11 Month (24 Dec, a Tuesday) – face South

So when Tian She Day started?

According to Ancient Records, Tian She Day started far in Shang Dynasty and had reached its peak in Song Dynasty

So what to do on Tian She Day?

As recorded and advised, on these Days, conducting of Official Taoist Chanting to Yu Huang Da Tian Zun (玉皇大天尊), San Guan Da Di (三官大帝), Dou Mu Yuan Jun & the Dippers (斗姆元君及眾星斗星君) or requesting for Forgiveness for the Pass-ons to Heavenly Lord Tai Yi (太乙救苦天尊), will be recommended.

Besides that, for those who are suffering for long-term illnesses and had yet to get cured, by making trips to Official Temples to pay respect to the various Deities and sincerely requesting for Forgiveness will help too.

So where can Oneself visit on Tian She Day?

In Singapore, there are a few Official Temples that conduct Tian She Day Honouring for Devotees:

1 – Yue Hai Qing Temple (粵海清廟) located at Phillip Street, CBD

2 – Tanjong Pagar Du Cheng Huang Temple (都城隍廟), located besides Tanjong Pagar MRT, CBD

Jave's Dao Diary 22 July 2013 (小道今日記 – 癸巳年荔月十五日子時)

Even though Jave does not have the surname of Zhang, but to Jave, whether having the surname of Zhang is not important, the most important is that, we have to promote the Culture & Teaching of Heavenly Master Zhang, to ALL Taoists over the World, regardless Race, Countries or even Religions.

Recalling back, when Jave was only 5 years old, the very first Scripture that Jave have in-contact with, was Bei Dou Jing aka The Scripture of the Great Northern Dipper. Till today, Jave can still recall the how joyous Jave was when the Scripture was handled to me. From then, Jave had started to study and fall in “Love” with Taoism, Bei Dou and even Dou Mu – Mother of All Dippers.

May All Zheng Yi Disciples come together to show more interest in promoting the Culture that being pass-down by Heavenly Master. Let the Culture and Teaching flow far and long.

May all be Blessed.

Jave Dao's Diary 18 Jul 2013 (小道今日記 – 癸巳年荔月十一日丑時)

Dao Diary 18 July 2013 AM2:00

Even though Jave is not feeling well today, but Jave have not stop on the editing work on the Zheng Yi Sect Scriptures, Petition and some of the special Incantations. Hoping that soon, all these edited Scriptures, etc, can be used and being able to promote to more people.

If you will to ask whether is it tiring? Of cos it is.
And if you will to ask whether is it demoralizing? Yes, I can say so.

Even though while doing all these, Jave had got “Life-threatening warning” from our local Taoists and some Organisations, but all these obstacles wont stopped Jave from going forward. To Jave, all these will be my Life-task for this Mortal-realm-cycle.

Luckily is that, I have got a lot of chances to meet up with different Taoist Seniors/Elders and got their encouragement & guiding. Not to mention that Jave had got more support from The Great Patriarch Zhang Mei Liang – the son of 63rd Heavenly Master Zhang En Pu.

These few days, while interacting with Taoists from various South East Asia Countries, to our horror, we realised that there are too many things that we needed to do to promote Taoism in our Region, especially the Teaching from Heavenly Master Zhang aka Zheng Yi Sect.

Now we are trying our best to correct some of the Culture back and hope, in near future, we will be able to see some positive changes and by then, we are able to promote the Upright Teaching to more people who are keen in understanding our Root-Religion – Taoism.

May we all work closely together to achieve our Ultimate Goal.

Heavenly Master Zhang En Pu & LSM (六十三代老天師之隆恩淵源)

After having a long chat with my Elders, finally revealed the "Secret" of the connection between our School and 62nd & 63rd Heavenly Masters, to Jave's Official Disciples.

May they continue to promote the Culture of what had been imparted down by the Two Old Heavenly Masters to more people.

This "Secret" will be kept till the Day when Jave's turn to return back to the Celestial Realm for reporting.

Plaque written by 62nd Heavenly Master

In here, you all will be seeing a photo showing a Late Qing Dynasty Plaque, hanging in a Taoist School’s Altar located in China Guang Chang Province Mu Tun Wan Village.

On the Plaque, it reads “Zan Jiao Ting”, literally translated as The Hall of Promoting the Culture of the Sect.

Till today, if you will to visit Priest Huang’s Taoist School, you will be able to see this Plaque hanging above the Main Altar.

Poem on Tian Kuang Day (宋詩 - 天貺)

In here, is a Poem composed by Song Dynasty Poet Xu Yue Qing, on the Traditional Festival of Tian Kuang Day.

The Ceasing Fire Talisman's Stone Slab

... In here, you all will be seeing a Stone Slab in Er Wang Temple (located in China SichuanProvince, Du Jiang Yan City), with the “Ceasing of Fire Talisman” being carved on it.

This Talisman was drawn by 61st Heavenly Master Zhang Ren Zheng back in the Late Qing Dynasty Tong Zhi Period.

In Year 1925, Er Wang Temple was almost destroyed by a big Fire, but when the Fire reached where this Stone Slab was standing, the Fire suddenly stopped. So from then, people believed that the “Power” that being enhanced onto this Slab by 61st Heavenly Master was still as strong as back then in Tong Zhi Period.

For those who have a chance to visit Er Wang Temple, do remember to take a look at this Slab

Tian Kuang Day - Opening of Heavenly Gate 2013 (癸巳蛇年天貺日-天門開)

In Taoist Culture, every year during the Lunar 6 Month, the Taoist or Chinese will celebrate this important Festival on the 6th Day of Lunar 6 Month

For Y...ear 2013, Tian Kuang Day falls on 13 July, a Saturday.

Tian Men Kai aka Opening of Heavenly Gate falls on 14 July, a Sunday.

Tian Kuang Ri (天貺日), in Taoism, known as the Day of Jade Emperor of Heaven distribution Blessing for ALL Beings & also, the 2nd Inspection Day for All High Authority Deities of the Three Realms (在道教文化中﹐天貺日被譽為玉皇赦罪大天尊﹐開赦天下之日﹐也是上天貺福民間之時。 In Chinese Culture, this Day is also known as Half Year Festival aka Ban Nian Jie (半年節).

Whereas, Tian Men Kai is the Day for the Deities to return back to the Celestial Palace for the Reporting & Submitting of the Inspection Result

In South East Asia, due to the mis-interpretation and misconception, the Opening of Heavenly Gate is celebrated on the 7th Day of Lunar 6 Month, which is not that Official & Accurate. Recent Years, due to Commercialization, many Folks are using this Opportunity to make Money by holding Un-necessary Events & Blessing Ceremonies, which somehow contribute to Degrading & Distorting of the Culture of Tian Kuang Ri.

According to Chinese History, the Celebration of Tian Kuang Ri was only being fixed after Song Dynasty (this is a Day that being Bestowed by Song Emperor Zhen Zong 宋真宗祥符四年 on AD 1011, before AD 1011, Tian Kuang Ri is usually being celebrated on the 1st Day or 15th Day of Lunar 6 Month).

So does Really the Heavenly Gate opened on this Day?

This is just a Myth that the folks believed in, to be more exact, Heavenly Gate does not have the process of Opening or Closing.

In Taoist Context, the "Heavenly Gate" or so-called the Entrance to the Heavenly/Spiritual Realm is located at the Eastern Hemisphere, in between the 2 Stars in the Green Dragon Formation (東方青龍角宿二星) - in Western Astrology, these 2 Stars are located in Spica Formation (室女α星). And this is why, during Tian Kuang Ri, when Taoist Priests performed the Sending of Spiritual Petition to the Heavenly Realm, the Taoist Priests will have to step the Dipper-steps towards the Eastern Direction and then conduct the Burning-off the Spiritual Petition facing the East

In most of the Chinese Myths, Heavenly Gate always being illustrated in the Southern Hemisphere (南天門), which is not Accurate.

So what is the actual meaning of this Tian Kuang Ri aka Tian Men Kai?

According to records and the Objective that being fixed by the Song Empire, actually Tian Kuang Ri is a Day for the Taoists to pay respect to the Heaven and other Deities and also, for Jade Emperor of Heaven (玉皇大天尊) to send his Officials to the Mortal Realm to distribute out the necessary Blessing to the Living Beings according to their Credits and Merits accumulated thru-out the past 6 Months (another Day of such Events will be on the 25th Day of Lunar 12 Month).

Due to this Tian Kuang Ri belief, this is why in our Taoist or Chinese Society, in the Spiritual Theory, we have a Theory of Luck will only changed after every 6 Lunar Months.

Tian Kuang Ri has another meaning of, Heaven gives out the Necessary Gifts/Rewards to the Necessary groups of Beings, such as Sick, Poor, Cultivated People or "Badies (its time for them to Receive the Rewards of what they have Accumulated)".

So how will the Taoists or Chinese Celebrates this Day?

For Taoists, we will visit Temples to pay Respect to Heaven & Jade Emperor of Heaven and then, do certain Chanting or Reciting of Scriptures or Incantations.

For Chinese, they will visit Temples to do requesting of Lucks and also, to do reprimanding of one self Debts, Sins and Evil-doing, once the Reprimanding is done, then they will do another round of Luck-requesting.

For those whose Requests being fulfilled within the 6 Months, they will need to return to the Temple to show their Gratitude to the Heaven or Deities before 25th Day of Lunar 12 Month.

For the Folks, on this Day, they will bring out their Clothing, Paintings, Books or some Valuable-stuffs to do Sun-bathing. Why they do so? Folks believed that by doing the Sun-bathing, the Objects will be blessed by Heaven and all these Objects will be able to last longer

In the Early Days (in Singapore), Old people who had bought their Shou Yi (壽衣 the Apparel for their Funeral) to keep, on this Day, they would bring out one piece (out of the 7 Layers) to do Sun-bathing. Why they do so? The Old people believed that by doing so, their Age-span would be prolonged by 1-3 years. If they didn’t do that, meaning that on that year, it might be their Last Year staying in this Mortal Realm

Besides the Sun-bathing for the Items, Taoists will also do Copying of Taoist Scriptures (天貺日抄經也是必然的功課之一) at Home. This is the time that Taoists show their Respect & Gratitude to the Big Dao.

Brief Introduction on Wang Chang & Zhao Sheng

In Zheng Yi Sect History, Heavenly Master Zhang Dao Ling had got 2 Official Disciples, which were known as Wang Chang & Zhao Sheng

During the period of travelling arou...nd to promote Taoism, Heavenly Master Zhang had accepted Wang Chang as his Disciple, upon the acceptance, Wang Chang had put in his very best effort in learning all the teachings that Heavenly Master Zhang had imparted to him, especially the skill of making Elixir and Medication for the ceasing of diseases/illnesses

When Heavenly Master Zhang settled down in Mt Long Hu (龍虎山, before that was known as Yun Jin Shan 雲錦山), Wang Chang was there to assist in locating the best Cultivation spot and without disappointment, they found the best spot, which is where Zheng Yi Guan (正一觀) located now.

While they stationed at Mt Long Hu, Wang Chang had also assisted Heavenly Master in subduing Demons & also salvaged quite a number of suffering folks

At the age of 100, Heavenly Master decided to shift on to another location to promote Taoism and so, Wang Chang had accompanied him to Mt Qing Cheng (青城山).

Upon arriving at Mt Qing Cheng, Heavenly Master accepted Zhao Sheng as his last few Disciples (at that time, Heavenly Master had already accepted 3000 students). Reason for Heavenly Master to accept Zhao Sheng, was due to that, Zhao Sheng had appeared in his dreams and also prediction, before they arrived in Mt Qing Cheng

With 20 over years of learning under Heavenly Master and the guidance of Wang Chang, Zhao Sheng had mastered a lot of skills

During these 20 over years, Heavenly Master had also tested Zhao Sheng 7 times, in-order to see whether Zhao Sheng had determination & faith in promoting the Upright Culture of Taoism. Without fail, Zhao Sheng passed all the testings

In AD 156, 9th Day of Lunar 9 Month of 2nd Year of Yuan Shou Period, under the Leadership of Emperor Han Huan (漢桓帝永壽二年農曆九月初九日), Heavenly Master gathered all his Disciples & Family Members to the highest peak of Mt Yun Tai (祖天師召集所有弟子及家眷來到蜀中雲台山之顛) .

Upon arrival, Heavenly Master observed on every individual member and finally, he asked who is willingly to jump-off the Peak with him to pluck the Immortal Peaches at the Cliff-wall below?

After Heavenly Master had announced that to the people, no one dared to reply. Knowing that almost all people here wouldn’t be able to follow his instruction, Heavenly Master had to jump-off the Peak himself

With a shock, all the people dashed towards the border of the Peak, but no one dared to jump-off to “rescue” Heavenly Master, at this moment, Wang Chang gave Zhao Sheng a glance and Zhao Sheng returned with a nod, both of them jump-off the Peak

Soon after Wang Chang & Zhao Sheng jump-off, people on the Peak saw that the Three of them were being carried by Immortal Cranes and disappeared into the Clouds. From then onwards, Heavenly Master Zhang, Wang Chang & Zhao Sheng got their Immortality .

As the Immortal Cranes flew thru the thick layers of Clouds, crossing the Milky-way, passing thru the Dipper Stars, they arrived at the Celestial Palace of where Dao De Tian Zun (道德天尊) aka Supreme Lord of Tai Shang (太上道祖) conducts his tasks (隨著仙鶴之駕引﹐三人來至太清仙境).

While the Three of them walked into the Palace, they were being ushered by the various High Authority Deities and Immortals

Upon reaching the Hall where Dao De Tian Zun was, Heavenly Master Zhang and his Two Disciples kneel-down to pay their highest respect to him. With a short “speech” given by Dao De Tian Zun, Heavenly Master was being bestowed with his Official Title as Tai Xuan Shang Xian Xiang Mo Hu Dao Tian Zun (在道祖座前參禮之後﹐祖天師授封誥為泰玄上相降魔護道天尊), positioned as the Leader of the other Three Heavenly Masters (居四天師之首﹐統領道教).

And Wang Chang was bestowed with the Official Title of Shang Qing San Tian Du Hu Zuo Xuan Zhen Ren (王長封誥為上清三天都護左玄真人), appointed to station by Heavenly Master’s side to protect the Celestial Sword of Subduing Demons & Promoting Upright Taoism (居祖天師之左﹐持天師降魔劍﹐護道不讓).

And Zhao Sheng was bestowed with the Official Title of Shang Qing San Tian Du Hu You Xuan Zhen Ren (趙昇封誥為上清三天都護右玄真人), appointed to station by Heavenly Master’s side to protect the Celestial Seal of Summoning of Deities & Heavenly Marshals and to Uphold the Righteous of Taoism (居祖天師之右﹐捧天師都功之印﹐衛道不讓).

Today, in Tian Shi Fu, we are able to see the Statues of Wang Chang & Zhao Sheng, carved accordingly to the description of when, they got their Immortality
