Rating:★★★
Category:Other

Recent years, due to the increasing of Celebrations of Temples & Sintuas and the lack of study on Chinese Culture and History, alot of the Folks tend to mis-use certain Terms or Totally using the Wrong Terms for the Celebration on Deities Manifestation Anniversary or Birthday, which causes quite a few laughing & mis-understanding issues.

In-order to assist such Folks to get the Terms correct and preventing any more distorting of our Chinese Culture, here I will do a quick and fast intro on the various different Chinese Terms for different Deities.

Here it goes:

Wan Shou (萬壽) aka Infinite Longevity - use for San Qing (三清道祖) or Jade Emperor of Heaven (玉皇大天尊)

Qian Qiu (千秋) aka Eternal Longevity - use for High Position Deities, such as Heavenly Emperors (天帝/帝君) such as Zi Wei Di Jun (紫微帝君) or Tian Huang Da Di (天皇大帝), Lord Tai Yi (太乙天尊), Lord Pu Hua (普化天尊), Lord Emperors such as Dong Yue Da Di (東嶽大帝), San Guan Da Di (三官大帝), etc

Hua Dan (華誕) or Hua Shou (華壽) aka Elegance Longevity - use on Lady Deities or Female Immortals (女仙), such as Wang Mu Niang Niang (王母娘娘) aka Mother Queen of the West, Dou Mu Yuan Jun (斗姆元君), Ma Zu (媽祖) etc

Shen Dan (聖誕) aka Immortality/Sage-hood Longevity - use on Masters (師), Immortals (仙), Priests (真人), Generals (天將), Marshals (天君元帥) or Offcers. Those Humans who got Enlightenment and then being bestowed with an Official Heavenly Titles, tsuch Deities will be able to use this Term, such as Guan Gong (關公), Yue Fei (岳飛), etc

Dan Chen (誕辰) or Shou Dan (壽誕) aka Manifestation Anniversary or Birthday - the common term that can be used on any Deities, but in some serious contexts, this term is usually only being used on Low-level Deities such as Deity of Earth (土地公), City Deity (城隍神) or Deities that are associated with Nether World or Waterly Realm (地界水界諸神).

Spiritual Cultivation Sharing 1: Life & Death Testing (論修道之生與死)

Rating:★★★
Category:Other

Cultivation with the Testing of Life & Death, upon hearing that, alot of people will immediately be shocked or got frightened.

If you are one of such a group, then I can said that you have yet to achieve the level of Seeing Nothing or have yet to understand the Basic Teaching of the Tao.

Need not worry, cos to be able to fully got the feel of the Upright Culture of Tao, one self will need to go thru Testings, Training, Failing and then last, succeed.

Till today, most of the Taoist Priests, Taoist Masters or Highly Cultivated Taoists are still on the stage of going thru such Life & Death Testing.

And so, what is Life & Death Testing?

Many people might take this Life & Death as normal Birth-ing or normal dying (as in leaving this World), but to be more Accurate, it means more than just Normal Birth or Death.

In Taoism, we do not have a Start, neither there is any Ending and so, Life that being created into this World is just an Short Term staying and Death is just a Temperory Departure, when the Time & Chance is right again, one self (with the correct Combination of 3 Spirits & 7 Souls) will come back to this Mortal World again.

Okay, back to topic, the Life & Death Testing.

Life Testing, includes Events or Actions that bring one self to very High Emotion or Reactions such as Happiness, Sadness, Anger or Joyous. By going thru such Emotions & Actions, one self will discover that, by the end, actually certian Things are not Permanent or can Last Long, by knowing the True Fact of why such Emotions or Reactions remain so Shortly, one self will be able to learn the Lesson of No-Thing-ness or Null.

Same goes to Death.

Death in here is not Dying neither the Temporary Departure, but the Events or Actions that one self experiences when one self is being left alone, Things or Beings that are around one self left one self or one self encountered the Seriousness of Sickness or seeing the Pain & Sufferings that happened around one self.

Death may be scary, but if one self is able to overcome the scariness of Death (All mentioned Above), one self will be able to merge in the Big Tao (or Universe) in-order to think of a way to solve such Miserables and then, last, achieve in doing Salvation of the Sufferings - the Ultimate Objective of being an Official Taoist or a Cultivated Taoist.

Many people whom they claimed that they are Official or Cultivated Taoist, actually has neglected this point - making Vows to do Salvation for the others.

Nowadays, most of the Taoists that are being accepted by the Official Tao only spend more time on doing Cultivation for one self and then forget about the others who suffered from All sort of Sufferings - defeat the purpose of entering into the Upright Gate of Taoism.

Upon receiving the Authority from the Heaven or the Heavenly Masters, beside doing Self Cultivation, one self shall do more observations and travelling-around in the Mortal World to check on how the Beings suffered and then, by applying the Right Methods to do the Salvation.

So for those who are an Official & Cultivated Taoist now, do ponder on the way that one self perform the Cultivation, have you meet the Objective of being a Tao Student?

One year, while he was on his way to do the wood-cutting, he saw a Priest walking in front of him, with his curosity, he went towards the Priest to make certain enquiries on Taoism. After ronds of enquiry-making, Wang Tai Bao was deeply attracted by the Wisdom & Knowledge of the Priest. Just at the moment before the Priest made his departure, Wang Tai Bao kneeled infron of the Priest to ask for his acceptance for him as his disciple.

Immediately, the Priest accepted his request and within moment, the Priest transformed into his real appreance, to Wang Tai Bao's susprise, the Priest was actually Heavenly Master Xu Xun.

From then, Wang Tai Bao returned to Lv Shan to master his Spiritual Skills under Master Xu Xun.

One year, while Heavenly Master Xu Xun doing his salvation, he passed by a Village in Hokkien Province. Just at the moment he stepped into the Village, he heard a very pitiful crying sound, coming from the direction of a run-down Temple. Without hesitation, Master Xu Xun walked towatds the Temple to check out.

Upon reaching the Temple, to his horror, he saw a boy of about the age of 7, sitting beside a lady corspe, crying blood out from both eyes. Immediately, Master Xu approached the boy to ask what had happened, the boy was shocked at first, but after a while, he felt comfortable with Master Xu and so, he spoke up.

The boy was known as Yang Biao (楊彪), hometown in Hokkien Province, Feng Huang Chi area (鳳凰池). At the age of 3, his father passed-away, leaving his mother with him. In-order to have the necessary financial support, both of them had to come to this village to seek for his uncle's assistance, but after his father's departure, his uncle's attitude changed. During the stayed in his uncle's place, they were being ill-treated. After 4 years of bearing the ill-treatment, his mother died due to weak-heart.

Just after pourng out all the sorrows, Yang Biao started to cry again, this time round, more blood was being cried out. Upon looking at this pity little boy, Master Xu Xun was being moved by his Filial Piety and so, he decided to take him in as one of his disciples.

After assisting Yang Biao in burying of his mother, Master Xu Xun brought Yang Biao back to Lv Shan to imprt him with the Spiritual Skills.

Spiritual Dinner with Spiritual People (道文化小聚餐)

Rating:★★★
Category:Other

Last Night (20 April 2008), a few of us – the Taoist Spiritual People gathered together to have a Dim Sum Dinner at Rui Chun Dian Xin Shop (瑞春點心) located at Jalan Bersah, as we had our Dinner, we also discussed about the ways of Promoting of our Upright Culture of Taoism, the Future of Local Zheng Yi Sect (正一天師道) and also, how to get in more interested Parties to join in the Group to promote our Culture and get the Teaching to pass down Generation by Generation.

So who attended?

Thanks to Taoist Priest Simon Lee of Hian Eng Taoist Group aka Xian Ying Dao Tan (顯應道壇), Bro Matt from UK London, me of Long Shan Dao Tan (龍山道壇) and last, my lastest Student Donnie.

In here, will really like to express my Thanks to Donnie who rushed down from his work to the Hotel where Bro Matt was staying to fetch us to the Dinner and then to some other places for a quick Night Tour. With his sincerity and kindness, all of us are really happy and appreciated.

So what have we discussed?

During the starting of the Dinner, Priest Simon and Bro Matt were discussing about the various Qi Gong styles (氣功) then switched to the Healing Energies from various Taoist Practice, then to the Visualization Skills (觀想) that we used in Taoist Rituals/Ceremonies and last, the current situation on our Local Taoism and the future of our Zheng Yi Sect.

As all of us know that, today, in Singapore, Not much Priests or Taoists will dare to claim themselves as a follower of Zheng Yi Sect. Why? Due to the Political Issues and the Wrong promoting of Culture from the various Organisations.

This is really a Pity scene to see and Terrible news to know.

And so, we discuss about how to attract more interested parties to join us to do the promotion.

So, we briefly come up with some ideas, such as doing more simple translation on our Taoist Scriptures, doing Reports on Taoist Rituals/Ceremonies – not commercial type but the Traditional type, by imparting the Upright and yet interesting information to the newer Generation and last, to stop the destructive wrong promotion on the Folks Culture that affected the image & Reputation of our Upright Taoism.

As discussed, now a lot of the Folks tend to treat a lot of Folks Culture to be the Upright Culture and Teaching of our Taoism, which this is Not Accurate and True, cos, even though Folks Culture is a minor Part of Taoism, but they do not have the Authorities to speak up or represent the Big Dao (大道).

And so, as time goes by, our Upright Taoism will be strongly affected by such ignorant scenes and last, lead to the Death of our Upright Taoism.

As we had our discussion on the Dinner, time flies and so, soon we had to make our move to a short tour, and this marked the end of the Day.

Look forward to the next meeting up and hope that more people will be able to join in the Fun.

Introduction on Taoist Spiritual Mantra - The Purple Energy of Universe Mantra (紫氣神咒)

By looking at the title of this Mantra, many people might not be able to understand fully on what this Mantra is mend for, but according to the Taoist Records, this is a Mantra that will assist one self to break thru all Negative Forces that obstruct one self or protecting one self against all Negative Enetities invading.

Why this Mantra is being titled as Purple Energy aka Zi Qi?

According to the Records, this is a Mantra that gather the 2 Initial of Energies that created this Universe - which are the Yin & Yang.

After the Yin & Yang Energies colladed with each other, a Bright Light Ray with Extreme Heat was being created and this form of Heat Energy was known as the Purple Energy.

Due to the Extreme Heat and the Brightness that this Heat Energy produced, Taoists believed that, by gathering the enhancement of this Energy, one self will be blessed with Good Blessing and All Positive Protection, in-order to ward off All un-necessary Bad-issues or Negative encounters.

In some other Taoist Contexts, this Mantra was also believed to be a Mantra that called upon the Energy from Heavenly Emperor Zi Wei aka Bei Ji Zi Wei Da Di (北極紫微大帝) and his other few subordinates.

By hearing the requests, Heavenly Emperor Zi Wei will send his necessary blessing & protection for one self.

Introduction on Lv Shan Sect Protectors (1): General Zhang Da & Liu Er (閭山護法 -張大與柳二將軍)

In Taoist Lv Shan Sect (閭山派), there are 4 Protectors that All the disciples that seek Mastership under Lv Shan Masters must honoured or pay respect to.

According to Taoist Lv Shan Sect Records, these 4 Protectors are the disciples of Heavenly Master Xu Xun, which is the Founder of Jing Ming Zhong Xiao Sect 淨明忠孝道 (the initial form of Lv Shan Sect).

In here, I will do an quick introduction on the First 2 Protectors, known as Zhang Da (張大) & Liu Er (柳二).

Zhang Da & Liu Er, 2 hometown-mates of Madam Chen Jing Gu (陳靖姑), before Madam Chen Jing Gu seek Mastership under Heavenly Master Xu Xun (許遜天師), Zhang Da & Liu Er had went to Lv Shan aka Mountain Lv to learn Spiritual Skills from Master Xu Xun.

During the 3 years of stay in Lv Shan, due to the slow-learning-pace of these 2 people, Master Xu Xun only trained them how to do pounding on rice and wheat (搗米).

On the end of the 3rd year, Zhang Da & Liu Er were summoned by Master Xu Xun.

Upon reaching Master Xu Xun room, Zhang Da & Liu Er were being dismissed by Master Xu Xun, before Zhang Da & Liu Er made their left, Master Xu Xun gave Zhang Da the Rice-pounding Stick (搗米杵) and Liu Er, the Rice-pounding Container (搗米臼).

Zhang Da & Liu Er were very shocked and disappointed by this act. As they exited Lv Shan, Zhang Da & Liu Er grumbled among each other for the way that Master Xu Xun treated them.

After reaching the bank of Bai Long River (白龍江), Zhang Da & Liu Er damped the 2 items into the River.

Just at the moment of the 2 items being thrown into the River, Bai Long River flooded and the River-bed cracked into half. The 2 people were shocked and scared, after calming themselves down, then they released that these 2 items were Spiritual Items that Master Xu Xun imparted them.

Immediately, Zhang Da & Liu Er jumped into the River to retrieve the 2 items back, just as they jumped into the River, the 2 items flew up onto the River Bank, in-order not to let these 2 items flee-off, Zhang Da & Liu Er climbed back to the River Bank and tried their very best to chase after the 2 items.

As they chased, the 2 items speed increased and within seconds, the 2 items and the 2 people had ran for miles, cut thru Mountains, Forest, Jungles, Caves, ect – this is actually a Planned way that Master Xu Xun trained them.

After miles & miles of chasing, finally the 2 items stopped and Zhang Da & Liu Er were able to grab hold of these 2 items. Just at the moment of grabbing the items, blood started to flow down from the whole body of the 2 people. Zhang Da & Liu Er were shocked but due to the joy of grabbing hold of the 2 items back, they forgotten the pain and they decided to bring back these 2 items to see Master Xu Xun at Lv Shan.

Back in Lv Shan, Master Xu Xun was very happy with the effort that Zhang Da & Liu Er put in to grab back the 2 items. And so, from then, Master Xu Xun decided to accept them back as disciples and bestowed them with an Official Spiritual Title known as Er Sha Wang aka The 2 Dukes of Er Sha (二沙王).

After noticing the cuts on the bodies, Master Xu Xun transformed all the cuts into little eyes, which allowed the 2 of them to see far, from then, Zhang Da & Liu Er were being enhanced with the Spiritual Power of seeing far, in-order to capture any form of Demons & Devils (千眼探惡魔).

Video Clip on Taoist Dipper Stepping for Rituals (道教法事步罡踏斗短片)

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Other

In the following is a Video presented by the Taoist Group from Mt Long Hu aka Long Hu Shan (龍虎山) of China, the Holy Premises of Heavenly Master Zhang Dao Ling (嗣漢天師府).

In this Video, you will be able to see the Leading Priest using the Taoist Official Command Block to do the summoning and cleansing, besides that, he also performed the Stepping of Dipper Steps in front of the Altar.

In Taoist Rituals/Ceremonies, the stepping of the Dipper Steps is very important, it represents, the Priest using the Spiritual Power to ascend into the Heavenly Realm to make reports, etc.

Usually this set of Procedure will be seen during the initial part of a Taoist Ritual/Ceremony or when, a Priest is doing the sending of Spiritual Petition for the Deities.

Introduction on Taoist Spiritual Mantra on Ceasing Rain - Qi Qing Shen Zhou (祈晴神咒)

In here, is one the few Taoist Spiritual Mantras that being used to request for the ceasing of Rain Pour or Storm.

In the Ancient Era, when an area is being disturbed by long period of Rain Pour or Strong Storm (which disturbed the on-going agricultures, farm works, etc), the people will gathered together to engage several Taoist Priests or Taoist Masters to perform the Ritual of requesting the Heaven for ceasing the Rain Pour.

Usually the Taoist Priests or Masters will recite a few Scriptures & Mantras and the following Mantra is one of them.

In the Mantra, you are able to see that, by reciting this Mantra, it is calling upon the Lord Sun or the Lord of Fire to be present and then, kindly invite the Lord of Water and Raining Deities to return back to their respective position. By whose Order? By the requested permission from San Qing and or Heavenly Realm (can be Yu Huang Da Tian Zun).

Nowadays, due to the decline in the promoting of Taoist Culture and also the facts that Sciencetists proven, alot of such Rituals/Ceremonies are not being seen or frequently-conducted and so, seldom people will have chance to come across such Mantras or the Scriuptures that dedicated to the Deities that involved in such events/actions, its really a pity (but, without conducting such Rtiuals/Ceremonies, in some way, is consider Good, cos, No-long period of Raining Season affecting the Life of Chinese).

Paying Respect to Lord Bei Dou on the 7th Day of Lunar 3 Month (北斗星君下降日祈福)

Rating:★★★
Category:Other

Yesterday, the 7th Day of Lunar 3 Month (12 Apr 2008), was consider as the Day of Lord Bei Dou descending to the Mortal World to do inspection and also to perform the distribution of Blessings to the granted Mortals.

Again, me, my classmate from UK and 3 of my students (2 Registered and 1 on the list of next Registration) joined me for the Paying of Respect to Lord Bei Dou in Telok Blangah Tee Kong Temple.

Even though the rain was heavy, everyone seems to be very anxious and enthusiatic in doing the honouring, before 1100 Am, 3 of the students were there waiting for me and my classmate's arrival.

Upon arriving at the Telok Blangah, the rain got heavier and so, we had to hide inside one of the coffeeshop nearby to chit chat, etc.

In-order not to have any further delay in the honouring, we dediced to dash thru the rain to the Temple. By the time we reached the Temple, most of us were soaked, but, we still felt good and happy.

After placing the necessary items on the Altar that dedicated to Dou Mu Yuan Jun (斗姆元君), Jiu Huang Da Di (九皇大帝) and Nan Bei Dou Xing Jun (南北斗星君), we went round the Temple to pay respect to Heaven, Yu Huang Da Tian Zun (玉皇大天尊) and other Deities and last, to the altar of Dou Mu Yuan Jun.

Just before we start the Honouring, again, a Spark float infront of the Altar, due to its a very fade Spark, I'm not sure of how many people had saw that. Anyway, this is the signal from the Deities to announce to us that they were around to hear the requesting and received the Honouring.

After about 1 hour of honouring, it was time for us to send off the Incense-papers and so, the 3 students were being appointd to do the sending off, hoping that, by allowing them to do the sending-off, they will blessed with the Fortune and Wealth Luck.

Just after the sending off of the Incense-paper, the rain stopped. This really showed Good Sign on the Honourng and so, happily we proceeded to what we should do on that afternoon.

PS: Students of Philippine Long Shan Men also performed the Ritual to honour Dou Mu, Dou Fu (斗父) and Nan Bei Dou Xing Jun.
