On the 15th Day of Lunar 10th Month (農曆十月十五日/下元), this is the day that The Water Lord perform his inspection on the Mortal World (according to individual well-being, the Water Lord will record their credits/merits and delete the mis-fortune accordingly 解厄), which later, the folks consider it as the Birthday for him.

ReplyDeleteDear All,
ReplyDeleteXia Yuan Shui Guan Da Di's Birthday coming, do remember do go and pay your respect to him on the 15 Day of Lunar 10 Month, this year, it falls on 24 Nov 2007, a Saturday.
In Singapore, you are able to find their statues or altar at the following Temples:
1 - Havelock Road Jade Emperor Temple
2 - Bukit Merah View Lei Yin Si Temple (雷音寺)
sifu..may i ask...izzit the tian guan da di..is the tian gong altar that we pray outside our house??i mean the tin koon chi fooK altar??
ReplyDeletesifu ..may i ask izzit tian guan da di..is the tian gong altar that we pray at our main entrance of our house?? i mean pray the plague 'tian guan zi fuk'....??thanks..
ReplyDeleteTian Guan Da Di and Jade Emperor are of different Deities.
ReplyDeleteTo be more accurate, Jade Emperor is the main key person to look after all Deities, including Tian Guan - meaning the "Boss".
Nowadays, people who made the hanging Tablets for home have somehow made some mistakes in the printing or production - now know as Tian Guan Chi Fu and not Yu Huang Da Tian Zun..
To be more accurate, the wordings in the Tablet shall be Yu Huang Da Tian Zun or Yu Huang Shang Di - to represent the Heaven.
oh..it means that the tablet is for yok wong tye tai??the Jade Emperor?? that's why many people mix up seeing the Tian Guan Chi Fu
ReplyDeleteCan say so.
ReplyDeleteAs a normal Mortal or Living Being, the most important is to show our greatest gratitude to Heaven in bestowed us with a life for living and a breath for staying. This is why, as a Taoist, before paying respect to any other Deities, we need to pay respect to the Heaven 1st.
This is a form of cultivation to train one self in Loyalty, Filial Piety and Determination.

ReplyDeletesifu can i pray to one of the three or must i pray to three? i plan to invite tian guan to my altar.
ReplyDeleteUsually we will invite ALL of them. Cos we need to honour ALL the 3 of them in-order to have the Max Blessing for Prosperity-bestowing, Sins & Debts Eliminating and last, Bad Issue Preventing.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your reply. The reason why i worship tian guan alone because i was told since my birthday falls on the same as his, tian guan has the strongest affinity with me. Is that true? how do we determine which deity has the strongest affinity with us?
ReplyDeleteFor such saying, it is not really true. And I thing I must clarify is that, 15th Day of Lunar 1 Month is not the Birthday of Tian Guan but, the Inspection Day of Tian Guan.
ReplyDeleteTo know which Deity that Oneself is connected with, it will need to go thru certain testing and cultivation before we can know. So it need time.
Thank you very much for clearing the air. It really helps to clear my misunderstanding.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, this is my Pleasure & Task.
ReplyDeletehi bro,
ReplyDeleteusually we see “天官赐福” is this 天官?
Yup, the one (with 天官赐福) we Chinese usually used to honour Tian Gong outside the House is actually dedicated to Tian Guan.
ReplyDeleteA Proper Tablet that dedicated to Tian Gong shall have the following words written on it:
玉皇大天尊。玄穹高上帝。 or 金闕玉皇大天尊。
