Pictures of Tian Du Yuan Shuai (南音祖師田都元帥)

Tian Du Yuan Shuai aka General/Marshal Tian Du, in Chinese known as 田都元帥 or 三田都元帥.

A real historical character that born in Tang Dynasty. During that Era, he's one of the Traditional Min Nan (Hokkien) Musician of Emperor Tang Ming Huang. Real name known as Lei Hai Qing (雷海青).

Till today, the Hokkien Traditional Art performers or Troupes still pay respect to him in-order to get blessing by him during performances, etc.

Some features of Tian Du that you will like to know:

1) Fingers pointing up and down - meaning "Heaven born me, Earth survived me (天生吾, 地育吾)", to be more accurate, this posture is a form of Traditional Dance that created by him during the Tang Dynasty, this dance is known as Tian Du Wu (田都舞).

2) Crab on the forehead - in myth, Lei Hai Qing was being fed by crabs in the plantation (before he's being found by his foster-parent).

3) Chicken and Dog beside him - his child-hood mate. After he got his position as a Officer (some said Deity), he promised to get his little friends to go together with him (as his gratitude towards the animals).

    1. Hi Jave,

May i have the picture of deity TIAN Du ? Thanks.

      Delete
  5. Yes.

For Hokkien Clan, Tian Du refers to One Deity, but in Teochew & Cantonese, Tian Du refers to 2 Deities - Tian & Du/Dou.

  6. Hi Javewu i am new here, would like to understand this deity is good in stage performance, for other personal matters in live can we approach the deity to advise etc... Thanks in advance for your advise.

  7. To be more accurate, normal life, we dont approached him, unless oneself is strongly connected with him due to past lives affinity, if not, only Actors will honoured Tian Du for Blessing.

Any issue is that, Tian Du does not have much Authority in giving the necessary Blessing for Normal Mortals, so no point in getting advises from him.

  9. Of cos you can call me shifu, but if you want to call me Jave, also can :P
Yup, I learn Taoism since 5 and got over the leadership at 20, so now still "young".. wahahaha

For someone who felt soft & calm after passing on, this is a good sign. Especially within 8 hours.

Such people will depart with less pain & less sins & debts, so for other Religions, they will believed that such people will have go back to the Paradise.

  10. Thks for your help if i always dream of her in some unknown place with her becos she stay with me most of the time till her age of 94.I took care of her since many years. I also heard she calling my name once so i wake up without fearing. I even saw her with my other dead brother in law and my favourite dead sister. it happen once in a month, she even brought me to a garden playing boat ride with her and enjoy the place so much. I myself is chanting buddhist rituals but we unable to know the other side of the world only can feel it. When she pass away i totally blank of her only until recently her face appear more often. My sister said i think of her too much. I just feel same not special thinking. Just she did appear to my dream where i never have dream during in my sleep before. So i think she just want to tell me she is fine or just me what she is doing there rite. Can help me this. Thank you Shi Fu,

  11. For the moment, whenever you do your chanting, dedicate the Merits to her in-order for her to leave this World peacefully.

Try not to miss her too much, cos in your Religion, the more you think of her, the more she cant leave this World, so to them, this is known as Zhi Zhuo (執著).

  12. Yes i know as said i didnt miss or try to miss her, just normal, sure i will do that. I wish to learn about hand sign u have any idea. Because most of the buddhist monk do not give any info only keep chanting. I wish to know some of it for helping during urgent time. Shi Fu got any chance to learn from you. Also i like to know about Tangki thing can you provide any source privately email wtrkwok@yahoo.com thk you shi fu.

  13. Hmmm, for Handsign, usually Buddhist & Taoist are different, some more, you will need to have a Proper Master to learn all these. And 1 thing to advise you, learning of such Skills, you will need to concentrate on only 1 Religion, cannot mix 2 up.

For the other Info that you wished to know, you can email me at javecxwu@gmail.com

  14. Dear Bro
    1) In your pictures we see two types of TianDu , one is with the dog and chicken assistants, the other Ong ya style with two lions. Am I right in thinking the one with official headgear and lions a promoted version?
    2) Do the assistant generals (ie Dog and chicken) have their own official names (other than "dog"/ "chicken".
    3) Ive heard that he is the third son of Ee Wang da Di. Do you agree this? If not who are his parents?
    Thank you

  15. Dear Bro,

To be more accurate, Tian Du come in at least 5 types.

Dog & Chicken are the 2 childhood playmate of Tian Du.

As for the Real Lei Hai Qing of Tang Dynasty, his 2 assistants shall be the Musicians that under training him in the Tang Court.

As for the Third Son of Jade Emperor of Heaven, that refers to the Hai Dee part, not Tian Du.
