Xi Wang Mu (西王母) aka Wang Mu Niang Niang (王母娘娘) or Yao Chi Jin Mu (瑤池金母), in certain context of Taoism, she's also being address as Xi Hua Di Jun (西華帝君) or Xi Hua Yuan Jun (西華元君).
In Taoism, she's consider the First Lady Deity among the whole Deities System. Whenever a new Lady Deity or Immortal being accepted or gets enlightenment, the Lady Deity or Immortal will have to approach her for her acceptance and also the "official registration" approved by her (為三界眾女仙之主).
Due to she's the First form of "Negative - Yin" energy of the Universe, she's being created in a form of Lady (which shows/represents Motherly-Love, Caring, etc)
Usually the Taoists or Folks will celebrate her Birthday on the 3rd Day of Lunar 3rd Month or 18th Day of 7th Month (一般相信﹐王母華誕為農曆七月十八日。三月初三日則是王母蟠桃會).

ReplyDeleteYup, look quite similar.
ReplyDeleteHey bro I think this one could be Tow Hua Niu Niu(peach blossom lady) because of position of sword special to the deity. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteDear Bro, Tao Hua got no seal on her hand :P
ReplyDeleteThis statue is a Wen form of Xi Wang Mu - scholar form, which represent authority of supervision.
What is this form of Wang Mu - wangmu_14.jpg?
ReplyDeletePlease advise.
Thanks
This is a very rare form of Wang Mu, seldom you can see it in any temples in SEA, only in Taiwan.
ReplyDeleteThis is in the Military form, the opposite of the Scholar form. It represent Authority and Military Power. The tiger at the bottom is a form of recognition for military and also, in some contexts, the initial form of Wang Mu is somehow like a tiger.

ReplyDeleteShi Fu. I want to ask about the 3 deities usually under Wang Mu Niang Niang. Is it San Tong Zi, Ta Tong Zi and Er Tong Zi? Please show me pictures if you have. Thanks. I heard the statues are from Taiwan.
ReplyDeleteThats belong to Folks Culture, which usually are classfied as the boy assistants of Wang Mu.
ReplyDeleteBut in Taoism, we do not have them.
ReplyDeleteif this is the case, 西王母乃众女仙之首(since she's the first lady?),东王公=男仙之首?then jade emperor? then wats the hierachy like? abit confused.
and by the way, 东王公=扶桑丹霖大帝?why pple relate him as 水井公?(can see him in kim hock keng).
just thot of this random qsn when reading this =)
Yes, Dong Wang Gong is considered as the Main Deity that take charge of New Male Deities after they got Immortal-hood.
ReplyDeleteJade Emperor of Heaven is the "Leader" that Lead ALL the Realms of in this Universe, so to be more accurate, he does not look into these "Small Issues", but in whole, Jade Emperor of Heaven is still the one who authorised their Titles before they can get Immortal-hood.
扶桑丹霖大帝 is one of the Official Title of Dong Wang Gong. And due to this Title 扶桑, many Folks also tend to relate him as the Main Deity of Japan (in Ancient Day, Japan is known as 扶桑).
And also because of this Title, Folks make him a Deity that Guard the Well - 水井公, which totally wrong.
ooo icic... and so whose the deity who guard the well instead of dong wang gong? or he doesnt even exist?
ReplyDeleteAll Waterly Realm Deities (you can see them in my Web here). There's one outside Jurong West Jin Fu Gong. Thats the one....
ReplyDeleteoutside??? but they say that one is fu sang dan lin da di. =D they wrote it in their anniversary booklet. so i guess they combined well deity = dong wang gong = dan lin da di
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I think they change a lot of the Official Taoist Deities into Folks Culture Characters. Cos last time when I was there, things didnt change.
ReplyDeleteHaizzz.. nvm la, maybe this is what they want, so we cant comment much.
arr ic

ReplyDeleteHi Shifu,
ReplyDeleteif Wang Mu is the First form of "Negative - Yin" energy of the Universe, then which deity is the first form of "Positive - Yang" energy of the universe, that is manifested at the same time with Wang Mu? As far as I understand there is no yang if there is no yin, and the opposite. Before yin and yang exist, there is nothing.
Since Wang Mu is related to Yin Energy, does it mean, that the end of lunar month is the best time for honouring Her?
Thank you in advance.
Warm regards,
Yang
Yes, Wang Mu is somehow addressed or known as the Negative Energy, but this Negative Energy is not the Normal Negative Energy that exist in the Mortal Realm, so we dont honour her during the End of the Month.
ReplyDeleteShifu, how about my other question?
ReplyDeleteWho is the first form of "Positive - Yang" energy in the universe as opposite of Wang Mu?
Best regards,
Yang
Dong Wang Gong aka Mu Gong.
ReplyDeleteHi Shifu, when is the manifestation anniversary of Wang Mu and what is her official title? Thx in advance.
ReplyDelete3rd day of lunar 3 month. Official Title in the bao gao. go thru it n u will see.
ReplyDeleteJust to make sure. Is this the official title of Wang Mu?

Jave what should i offer to the wang mu niang niang i pray at home on her birthday ?
ReplyDeletein taoism, you can just offer the Taoist Five Offerings, it will be good that you can do it constently :P
ReplyDeletePls refer to: http://javewu.multiply.com/journal/item/131
Jave do wang mu niang niang have a chanting to worship her other than the praise mantra as shown above
ReplyDeleteIn Taoism, Praise Mantra is the most important, other than this, the rest are not important. Cos most of them are newly made by the folks.
ReplyDeleteMASTER JAVE,do u have a vedio on the mantra?
ReplyDeleteFor the moment no.. i will try to create one soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks MASTER JAVE but can you be faster cause they are urgent
ReplyDeleteBy the way SHIFU JAVE is wang mu niang niang yu huang da di wife or mother
ReplyDeleteNo, Wang Mu is neither the Wife or Mother.
ReplyDeleteInteresting question from user jiutian!
ReplyDeleteShifu, is there example that deity in heaven realm has wife or husband? or is it just humanisation of deities?
Most of them are just being humanized like Mortal. Most of the Taoist Deities are just gusts of Energies.
ReplyDeleteoh sowang mu niang niang is the wife of jade emporer or is she his mother
ReplyDeleteThen how is wang mu niang niang related to yu huang da di
ReplyDeleteShe is just considered as the Subordinate of Yu Huang Tian Zun.
ReplyDeleteIn Taoism, Wang Mu is connected with Dong Wang Gong (東王公) rather than Yu Huang.
can u tell me her history
ReplyDeleteI did wrote some intro in the Blog Area. If not, you can email to me at javecxwu@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteoh thanks jave
